Międzynarodowy projekt wykonawczo-badawczy zasadza się na autentycznych przesłankach historycznych, sięgających wieku XVII i XVIII.
Podówczas, w trakcie trwania personalnej unii między Saksonią i Królestwem Polskim powstała najlepsza i najbardziej znamienita kapela dworska tamtych czasów – Dresdner Hofkapelle. Ponieważ uosabiana przez postać króla Augusta II, następnie przez Augusta III unia z Polską wymuszała funkcjonowanie dwóch dworów – w Dreźnie i Warszawie, wybitni muzycy podróżowali wraz z orszakiem królewskim. Zespół, który występował wówczas w Warszawie i współpracował z polskimi muzykami zyskał miano Pohlnische Capelle. Inkorporował również wielu innych zagranicznych wykonawców zgodnie z panującym kosmopolitycznym trendem europejskim.
Działalność kapeli jest dobrze udokumentowana i pozwala na dość dokładne odtworzenie profilu jego działalności. Współcześnie dysponujemy wieloma materiałami badawczymi pozwalającymi odtworzyć sposób funkcjonowania zespołu, a nawet przeanalizować konkretne wydarzenia artystyczne, które odbyły się 300 lat temu.
The international research and performance project is based on authentic historical premises dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries.
At that time, during the personal union between Saxony and the Kingdom of Poland, the best and most distinguished court ensemble of the time was created: the Dresdner Hofkapelle. Personified by the figure of King August II, and next by August III, the union with Poland necessitated the functioning of two royal courts – in Dresden and Warsaw, and outstanding musicians travelled with the royal entourage. The ensemble that performed in Warsaw at the time and collaborated with Polish musicians was called Pohlnische Capelle. It also involved many other foreign performers in line with the prevailing European cosmopolitan trend.
The ensemble’s activity is well documented and allows for an accurate recreation of its profile. Nowadays, we have a lot of research materials that allow us to re-enact the way the band worked and analyse specific artistic events that took place 300 years ago.
